Child Education

Eliza Cook says –"Better to build a school for children rather than the jail for elders." Education is the key pillar for nation building process. Prosperous country can be assured evaluating the academic status of the children.   Because of stratification on the basis of society, culture, caste, religion, sex and geography, large number children are being excluded from educational opportunities.

Child Rights Convention—rectified by Nepal—assures four basic rights of children i.e. rights to live, rights to protection, rights to development and rights to participation. Education comes under rights to development.

It is the obligation of state and civil society to assure the child rights in respective areas. Taking it into mind, GYC has run child education class in 1998. 23 children have joined the class out of which 16 children joined school for formal education. Similarly, GYC has facilitated child education class in Bihun VDC of Baglung by 1999.
